Afghan businessmen import low-quality transit oil products from Iran to Afghanistan
Mohammad Mehdi Jovanmard Qasab, the economic advisor of the Iranian President's special representative for Afghanistan affairs, in response to the stoppage of hundreds of oil tankers on the border between Afghanistan and Iran, said in an interview that "over the past years, it has happened many times that some Afghan businessmen tried to sell fuel Bring poor quality transit into Afghanistan from Iran. According to him, in the meeting that took place last year between the officials of the two countries, it was agreed that if low-quality fuel enters Afghanistan in transit; Iran neither allows it to return nor supports it.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Mohammad Mahdi Jovanmard Qasab, the economic adviser of the Iranian President's special representative for Afghanistan affairs, said in an interview with "Iraf" that the transit of low-quality fuel from Iraq to Afghanistan and the Afghan fuel mafia are a challenge for the transit of other countries through the route Iran belongs to this country.

Regarding the stopping of around 400 oil-carrying trucks at the border of Afghanistan, Jawanmard Kasab said: It has happened many times in the past years that some Afghan businessmen tried to import low-quality transit fuel from Iran.

He further mentioned: With the large number of trucks and creating problems at the borders, they are trying to get permission to enter Afghanistan. Their programs are no longer valid for those who have worked in this environment.

The Economic Adviser of the Special Representative of the President of Iran on Afghanistan Affairs has also stated: In the meeting held last year at the Mahirud border, in the presence of Mr. Hikmat and the local authorities of the two border provinces/provinces, it was announced to all Afghan and Iranian businessmen and Iranian and Afghan drivers that if the fuel is of poor quality to enter Afghanistan in transit; We neither allow returns nor support. Officials of the Ministry of Roads of Iran and Afghanistan decided to inform all transport companies.

He further explained: After some time passed, some Afghan officials again demanded the opening of the fuel transit route; This permission was given with the condition of not accepting the return of full trucks and low-quality products without transfer rights in order to prevent Iranian fuel smuggling.

He also noted that the fuel purchased from Iraq by Afghan traders is of poor quality and this has been reported to the Afghan authorities many times.

Jawanmard Qasab clarified: This issue has been determined many times after testing at the Afghan "Abunser Farahi" customs office, and Iraqi fuel has not obtained an entry permit. Knowing that these cargoes are of poor quality, Afghan businessmen took transit and using their usual methods that they have used in the past years, they are trying to achieve their demands by putting pressure on the drivers.

This Iranian official added: The illegal trade of these transit products, which is of low quality and brings high profits to Afghan businessmen, has been disrupting the movement and transportation between the two countries for years in the eastern borders.

Jawanmard Kasab stated that the same issue had happened last year and added: "Last year this issue was resolved with the mediation and intervention of some Taliban officials inside Afghanistan."

He said: But even today, Iraq does not accept the return of this product, and on the other hand, Iran's customs laws do not allow this product to return. Again, the authorities of two countries, especially Iran, have come under the pressure of the Afghan fuel mafia.

According to Iraf, Jawanmard Qasab stated in this conversation: "For more than 15 years that I have been working in this department, this process has been going on and is still going on. Of course, this action is very profitable for some Taliban officials and Afghan businessmen.

It should be noted that in recent days, videos have been published on social networks, which show that hundreds of vehicles carrying oil have been stopped at the border of Afghanistan. It is said that this car, which carries low-quality oil, has been delayed due to the refusal of the destination country to accept the cargo.
