60,000 displaced following Israeli attacks on Shujaiyeh, Gaza
The UN spokesman said: Israel's new ground attack on Shujaiyeh neighborhood of Gaza City displaced at least 60,000 residents of this area.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: The Israeli military carried out air and artillery strikes on Shujayea on Saturday, claiming that its troops had struck “terror targets and armed terrorist cells.”
The attacks came after the Israeli regime urged residents in Shujayea and adjacent areas to move southwards along the arterial Salah al-Din Street earlier in the day.
UN secretary-general's spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the new Israeli offensive in Shujayea has forced the displacement of “at least 60,000” residents.
“Humanitarian partners are reporting new displacement Yesterday, the Israeli military ordered people living in 28 residential blocks in areas east of Gaza City to immediately evacuate at least 60,000 people were displaced from this area, which spans over seven square kilometers [2.7 square miles], ”he said.
Dujarric further noted that a military operation in the area of al-Mawasi in southern Gaza, which the occupying regime has designated a “safe zone”, has resulted in many casualties and the displacement of at least 5,000 people.
Meanwhile, an Al-Jazeera journalist reported that Israeli forces targeted a group of Palestinians in Gaza City trying to fill water containers at a distribution point, adding that four Palestinians from the same family were killed in the shelling, including a child.
An Israeli airstrike also targeted Al-Janina neighborhood in the southern city of Rafah, killing two people, as the Israeli military claims to be continuing its intelligence-based operation in Rafah.
Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
The occupying regime has killed at least 37,834 Palestinians and injured over 86,858 since the start of the offensive. More than 1.7 million people have been internally displaced as well./Press tv
