Ryabkov: Western policies against Iran are completely futile and invalid in many ways
"Sergei Ryabkov", Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, today (Friday, June 21) called the resolution of three European countries against Iran at the meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency as "destructive" and the Western policies against Iran as "useless and void" in many ways.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International service: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Britain, France and Germany submitted a "destructive resolution" to the International Atomic Energy Agency's Board of Governors.

According to Itartas, he said: "We have now stopped at a point where the situation may turn towards the complete collapse of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)."

Ryabkov stressed: "But despite this, the diplomatic capacities have not been fully used yet. "We will continue to influence our opponents to refrain from the final destruction of this very important agreement."

In 2015, Iran reached an agreement with the countries known as the 5+1 group to resolve tensions over its nuclear program. Despite the International Atomic Energy Agency's acknowledgment of Iran's adherence to all its obligations, the US government unilaterally withdrew from this agreement in May 2017.

The Islamic Republic of Iran fulfilled all its obligations under this agreement until one year after the withdrawal of the United States from the JCPOA in order to give the European countries who promised to compensate the effects of Washington's withdrawal from the agreement an opportunity to try to fulfill this promise.

One year after the withdrawal of the US from the JCPOA, Tehran announced that it will reduce its obligations under the JCPOA in several steps, considering that European countries have not fulfilled their promises. The reduction of Iran's obligations was carried out under the provisions of the JCPOA nuclear deal.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, after taking 5 steps to reduce commitments, finally announced on 15th January 2018 that it no longer faces any restrictions in the operational area (including enrichment capacity, enrichment percentage, amount of enriched materials, and research and development).

A few weeks ago, the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency passed a resolution against Iran without considering the current situation of the JCPOA.

On July 6, the Islamic Republic of Iran, China, and Russia issued a statement while condemning this resolution and stated that the provisions of the JCPOA still stand.

In an interview on Friday, Ryabkov described this resolution as "destructive" and said: "Of course, this resolution was completely rejected by Tehran. We condemn these actions. This method does not help to solve the problems in any way, but on the contrary, it brings the risk of creating uncontrolled tension.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated: "We want the Europeans to weigh the consequences of this policy, but they are not ready to understand this issue like the United States at the moment. They are unwilling to understand what is being presented to them that is not their own politics; "Those policies are completely futile and invalid in many ways."
