Michael McCall, the head of the foreign relations committee of the US House of Representatives, has demanded the immediate release of "Ryan Corbett", a citizen of that country, from the prison of the Islamic Emirate.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: Mr. McCall said in a statement yesterday (Wednesday, March 27) that Ryan Corbett is in "deplorable conditions" in the Islamic Emirate prison.
He said that despite the continuous reports about the deteriorating health condition of this American citizen, the Biden administration did not do anything to release him.
The head of the Foreign Relations Committee of the US House of Representatives has said that the Biden administration should stop ignoring the request to meet with Ryan Corbett's family and take immediate action to free him from the hands of the Islamic Emirate.
Mr. McCall said: "Ryan's worsening condition is a tragic yet predictable consequence of the government's disastrous withdrawal [from Afghanistan]; "Ryan must be released immediately."
Ryan Corbett, an American citizen, came to Afghanistan on a business trip in August 2022 and was arrested by the Islamic Emirate along with a German colleague and two Afghan colleagues.
He had lived in Kabul with his family since 2010 until the Islamic Emirate regained control of Afghanistan.
Ryan Corbett had worked with non-governmental organizations in Afghanistan and founded a consulting firm, Afghanistan Bloom, which he said advised people on how to get small loans.
The government of the Islamic Emirate has not commented on the arrest of this American citizen until now.
Before this, the US State Department said that Thomas West, the country's special representative for Afghanistan, demanded the release of Ryan Corbett in a conversation with the Islamic Emirate.
