Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): On Tuesday, January 30, during a press conference, Matthew Miller, the spokesperson of the US Department of State, reacted to the published reports about the acceptance of the credentials of the ambassador of the Islamic Emirate by the President of China and added that "China should explain whether it recognizes the Taliban government or not."
"I have seen those reports and I think the Chinese government should talk about [Beijing's relations with the Islamic Emirate] and whether they (China) have officially recognized the Taliban," he said at the press conference. "I've seen some of their differing opinions."
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping accepted the 10 credentials of Maulvi Asadullah Bilal Karimi, the ambassador of the Islamic Emirate in Beijing.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, said in a statement that their ambassador in the Chinese capital, together with the ambassadors of 41 other countries, presented their credentials to Xi Jinping during an official ceremony held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
China has a close relationship with the Islamic Emirate, but it has not taken any steps to recognize the Islamic Emirate and, like other countries, it has raised the preconditions of respecting human rights, fighting terrorism, and establishing a comprehensive government.
