The British Parliament investigates gender discrimination in Afghanistan and Iran
Members of the British Parliament have started an investigation into the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan and Iran under the title of "Gender Apartheid Investigations" and are collecting evidence and documents in this case.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The American magazine Forbes reported that this British parliamentary group started this research on January 8, 2024 and is collecting documents about the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan and Iran.

The research, led by Helena Kennedy KC, a member of the UK House of Lords, examines the concept of 'gender apartheid' and how it fits into the existing international legal framework.

A part of the Forbes magazine report states: "On January 8, 2024, a group of British parliamentarians, led by the distinguished member of the British House of Lords, Helena Kennedy KC, launched an inquiry into the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan and Iran, called the Gender Apartheid Inquiry. . This research is the first research in the world that is supposed to evaluate the scale and nature of this situation by examining the situation of women and girls in Iran and Afghanistan and analyze it against the existing legal definitions of international crimes.

However, the Islamic Emirate rejected the reports of gender discrimination in Afghanistan and considered it propaganda of some circles against the caretaker government and emphasized that there is no discrimination in Afghanistan.

Earlier, Richard Bennett, the special rapporteur for human rights of the United Nations, said that severe and regular discrimination against women in Afghanistan could be considered gender apartheid.

He emphasized in the meeting of the Human Rights Council that systematic discrimination in Afghanistan needs further investigation on the current situation.

This is despite the fact that the United Nations has always expressed concern over the imposition and announcement of restrictions against women and girls in Afghanistan and has called for the immediate cancellation of restrictions on human rights, especially women's rights.
