Amid genocide in Gaza, Iran says world needs to raise voices for justice
Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations office in Geneva has slammed decades of Israel's crimes against the Palestinians, urging the international community to raise voices for justice.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: "Crimes committed against the Palestinians over decades weigh heavy on the conscience of humanity," the mission said in a message on X on Friday.
It warned that occupation, crimes against humanity and gross violations of human rights must not become normalized.
The International Court of Justice in The Hague began hearings on Thursday over a charge that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
South Africa, in an 84-page suit filed against Israel at the top UN court on December 29, asked the top court to urgently declare that the Tel Aviv regime has breached its responsibilities under international law since October 7, 2023, when it launched hostilities in the besieged territory.
In a post on X on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian strongly supported the “courageous” move of the South African government against Israel.
“The disgust and hatred toward the animalistic behavior of Netanyahu and the terrorist army of the Zionist regime in committing genocide and war crimes against the Palestinians cannot be washed away in the public opinion of the world under any title or logic,” the minister stated.
On October 7, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas carried out the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to Israel’s atrocities against the Palestinians. Since then, Israel has killed at least 23,700 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in Gaza./Press tv
