German tanks are grounded in Ukraine without parts
Germany's parliament member for the military budget has admitted that only a small number of the modern Leopard 2 tanks that Germany supplied to Ukraine have been deployed on the battlefield because Europe is facing a shortage of spare parts to repair them.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): "Sebastian Schaefer", an economist and a member of the German Green Party, called on the arms manufacturers to improve the process of reconstruction and repair so that the damaged tanks can be repaired.

The German newspaper Spiegel quoted Sebastian Schaefer as saying: I visited the weapons repair workshop in Lithuania in late December with the German Minister of Defense and realized that the repair and restoration process takes a long time. As a result, only a small number of Leopard tanks can be used in Ukraine. We must take measures to strengthen the supply of spare parts.

After several months of deliberation, Germany finally agreed in early 2023 to send a European coalition of 88 Leopard 1 tanks and about 80 advanced Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. Cold War-era Leopard 1 tanks were reportedly phased out by Germany in 2000, while Leopard 2s are among the most advanced tanks used in the Ukraine war.

Russian armed forces have repeatedly destroyed advanced German tanks "Leopard" and American personnel carriers "Bradley" on the battlefields of Ukraine, and Moscow has stated several times that sending such weapons to Kiev will only prolong the war in Ukraine.
