Poll: Most Saudis Say Arab Nations Should Cut Ties with Israel
96 percent of Saudi citizens are of the opinion that Arab nations should sever relations with Israel due to the conflict in Gaza, a new survey revealed.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: The poll, conducted by the Washington Institute for Near Eastern Affairs, a pro-Israel think tank based in Washington, also shows a substantial rise in support for Hamas during the ongoing intense military actions by Israel in the besieged area, The Middle East Eye reported.
Israel has pounded the Gaza Strip since the October 7 attack by Hamas, killing at least 20,057 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 53,320 others. The Israeli onslaught has left Gaza in ruins with half of the coastal territory's housing stock damaged or destroyed, and nearly 2 million people displaced within the densely populated enclave amid shortages of food and clean water.
Friday's poll showed that 40 percent of Saudis now have a positive perception of Hamas, a notable increase from just 10 percent in a poll conducted before the war began.
Additionally, the majority of those surveyed in Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt also expressed favourable views towards Hamas.
The survey further found that 87 percent of Saudis believe "Israel is so weak and internally divided that it could be defeated some day"./Fars news
