Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: According to the report of Fars News Agency, "Vasily Nebenzia", Russia's representative in the United Nations, harshly criticized America's actions in preventing the killing of Gazans by Israel in the Security Council meeting.
After the adoption of a resolution in the UN Security Council that calls for an increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza, the representative of Russia explained why Moscow did not veto this resolution despite America's obstructions.
China's CGTN channel reported moments before the adoption of this resolution that the United States vetoed Russia's request to include a clause for "immediate and permanent cessation of hostilities" in the text of the Security Council resolution.
This resolution was finally approved without this paragraph with the approval of 13 members of the Security Council and the abstentions of the United States and Russia. The representative of the UAE, as one of the countries presenting the resolution, described its goal as increasing humanitarian aid to Gaza and appointing a humanitarian coordinator to facilitate the arrival of aid to Gaza.
According to the Guardian newspaper, Vasiliy Nebenzia stated in a statement: "Washington is playing a wicked game to include permission to kill Palestinian civilians by Israel."
The Russian representative further noted that the goal of American consultations in the region is not to promote peace. He said: "America is touring the region, but not to promote peace - as my American colleague said - but to ensure Washington's short-term interests."
This high-ranking Russian diplomat went on to explain why Moscow did not veto the said document. He said: "Colleagues, if this document was not supported by a number of Arab countries, we would have vetoed it."
He added: "At the same time, we know that some of the drafters of this resolution, including the Arab countries, withdrew their support for it, but we are always of the opinion that the Arab world is capable of making its own decision and accepting full responsibility for it." It is only for this reason that we do not prevent the approval of this document."
The approval of the new resolution took place while the voting on it was postponed four times in the past days. Finally, the American representative announced today that he is ready to vote on the new amended text.
Since the start of the Zionist regime's attacks on the Gaza Strip on October 7, the US government has declared its full and unequivocal support for this regime's operations in Gaza.
By repeating the Zionist narrative, the US government has vetoed several resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
In the latest action in this regard, last week, Washington failed the request of other members of the Security Council to end the war in Gaza by standing against the vote of 13 other countries. The only other country that did not agree to this resolution was England, which abstained.
In the weeks leading up to the war, Joe Biden's administration, in the face of continued calls for help in establishing a cease-fire in Gaza, said the White House only supported "ceasefires" in Gaza and was not in favor of a cease-fire that could benefit Hamas.
Meanwhile, human rights activists and some politicians of the Democratic Party have repeatedly asked Biden to put pressure on Israel to end the operation that killed thousands of civilians.
On October 7th, the Islamic resistance movement of Palestine, Hamas, in response to more than seven decades of occupation of Palestine and nearly two decades of siege of Gaza and imprisonment and torture of thousands of Palestinians, started the operation known as "Al-Aqsa Storm".
This operation was one of the deadliest attacks against this regime. Hamas fighters penetrated into the occupied territories at several points of the border fences, attacked the villages and besides killing a large number of Israelis, captured a number of them.
According to the latest statistics of the Gaza Ministry of Health, the number of victims of the aggression of the Zionist regime from October 7 to today has reached 2,0057 martyrs and 5,3320 injured./Fars news
