Thomas West says that during his two-day trip to Pakistan, he talked with Pakistani officials about the need to protect Afghan refugees.

He has discussed with General Asim Munir, Chief of Staff of the Army and Asif Durrani, Pakistan's Special Representative for Afghanistan Affairs.

West added that the United States appreciates "close engagement with Islamabad on refugee protection issues, including cooperation with international organizations and humane and dignified engagement."
