Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - International Service: The US Department of Defense announced that on Thursday, the country shot down 13 of a Turkish armed drone that was operating near its forces in Syria. This is the first time that Washington has shot down a Turkish aircraft.
A Turkish Defense Ministry official said the downed drone did not belong to the Turkish Armed Forces, but did not say who it belonged to.
This Turkish plane was shot down while this country targeted some Kurdish targets in Iraq and Syria after Ankara's terrorist attack.
Reuters quoted Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder as writing; "Turkish drones were seen carrying out airstrikes in Syria's Haskeh on Thursday morning within about one kilometer of American forces. A few hours later, a Turkish drone came within half a kilometer of the American forces and was perceived as a threat and shot down by F-16s.
Haskeh is located in northeastern Syria and the People's Protection Units (YPG), which are mainly Kurdish, operate in this area.
It should be noted that the US and Turkish defense ministers have discussed these developments.
