In the first official comments, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that two attackers planned to detonate a bomb in front of the police headquarters and near the parliament in Ankara.
 
Turkey's interior minister said that "one of them blew himself up in front of the ministry building and the attack of the second one was neutralized."
 
Ali Yerlikaya said that two attackers entered the place in a military vehicle around 09:30 (local time). He called this attack "terrorist".
 
According to the Turkish Interior Minister, both attackers were killed, one blew himself up and the other was killed by the police.
 
Earlier, the news media had published reports of the sound of gunfire in this area.
 
Turkish Interior Minister also confirmed that two security forces were also injured in the incident. Rescue teams have been sent to the place.
 
The attack comes as the Turkish parliament prepares to hold its first session.
