Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) Kabul: Pakistani media reported today (Tuesday, September 12, 2023) quoting Ijaz Khan Afridi, the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, that huge financial losses have been caused to the two countries due to the closure of this crossing.
This figure has been confirmed by Khanjan Alokozay, the head of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Last week, Islamabad closed the Torkham border to travelers and traffic following the clash between the border forces of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, by publishing a statement, considered the blocking of the Torkham crossing by the Pakistani authorities to be against good neighborliness and declared this action to the detriment of Pakistan's economy.
On the other hand, Pakistan's border officials have said that the talks between the representatives of Afghanistan and Pakistan about the reopening of the Torkham crossing have ended without results.
