Economic Community of West Africa: The trial of Mohammad Bazum by the coup plotters is provocative
The West African Economic Community (ECOWAS) called the military council's accusations against the ousted president of Niger, Muhammad Bazum, and the council's determination to try him, a "provocative" approach.

Ecowas bloc added that this step is a kind of provocative action by the leaders of the Niger coup and contradicts their claims that they are ready to find a peaceful solution to the current crisis in this country.
 
Meanwhile, UN spokesman Stephane Ducharik said any attempt by Niger's military council to accuse Mohamed Bazum of high treason was "extremely worrying".
