Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to media reports, this incident that happened on Thursday evening last week (August 10), is the deadliest attack by this terrorist group against Syrian government forces since the beginning of August this year.
ISIS took responsibility for this attack through its information channel "Amaq" and claimed that it attacked "two military vehicles" using "heavy weapons and rockets" in this ambush operation.
The official Syrian news agency SANA also confirmed this attack, quoting a military source, and wrote: "A terrorist group attacked military vehicles in the southeast of Deir Ezzor on Thursday evening."
Without mentioning the number of casualties and injured, this source only stated that this attack left wounded and dead among the soldiers.
ISIS has recently intensified its attacks in Syria, especially in the desert areas of this country; ISIS fighters had previously retreated from their positions in the country after losing control of large areas of Syrian territory in 2019.
Four of the leaders of Daesh, who took over the leadership of this group one after the other, have been killed since the military defeat in Syria and Iraq.
