About 20 thousand workers are working in the country
The head of the Afghanistan Iron Smelting Companies Union says that about 20 thousand people are working in iron smelting factories in the country; He also adds that the lack of raw materials and the reduction of old iron for the prosperity of iron production have caused them to consult with the government for mining in order to continue the operation of iron factories in the country.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mazar-e-Sharif: Nasir Ahmad Reshtia, head of the Afghanistan Iron Smelting Companies Union, while explaining the activities and problems of iron smelting factories in the country and especially in Balkh province, told AVA: There are problems with the operation of iron smelting factories in the country, especially in Balkh province, and the lack of old iron is considered the biggest problem.

He added that about 20 thousand people are working in iron smelting factories in the country; And due to the lack of raw materials and old iron, we are consulting with the government to extract iron mines in the country to provide more work for our countrymen and more activity for domestic iron smelting factories.

Haji Safiullah Hamidi, the manager of Shamal Fulad Iron Smelting Factory in Balkh Province, also says: "About 60 people are working permanently and about 90 people are working temporarily in this factory. The production capacity of this factory is more than 40 tons of skewers, but due to the existing problems, we only produce 6 to 7 tons of skewers per day."

He considered the lack of raw materials, insufficient old iron and the lack of machine parts inside the country as the main problems facing iron smelting factories and added that we have received unconfirmed information that domestic old iron is being smuggled outside the country.

Hamidi stated: Existing problems will stop the activities of iron smelting factories and we ask the officials of the Islamic Emirate government to cooperate with traders and iron smelting factory owners inside the country.

At the same time, a number of iron smelting factory workers in Balkh province told AVA that the government's support for domestic manufacturing factories creates jobs for the people.
