Qatar and UAE agree to resume diplomatic relations
Qatari officials have announced that the country has reached an agreement with the United Arab Emirates to resume diplomatic relations and reopen embassies.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar announced on Monday, 29th of Gemini, that the authorities of this country and the United Arab Emirates have decided to resume diplomatic relations and that the embassies and consulates of both sides will start working from today.
 
In the published statement, it is said that Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, his Qatari counterpart, congratulated each other on the reopening of the embassies, and both of them welcomed the restoration of relations as "a promise of a new stage of cooperation and "Participation".
 
Relations between the UAE and Qatar have been strained since 2017. In that year, the four countries of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates imposed sanctions on Qatar, accusing it of supporting extremist Islamist groups in the region and having warm relations with Iran.
