Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): "Alexander Groshko", Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, on Thursday morning (April 13, 2023), evaluated the field conditions between this country and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the midst of the Ukraine war.
In an interview with "Izvestia" newspaper, Grushko said that Russia has enough military power to prevent NATO from dominating the Baltic Sea and turning it into a "NATO sea".
He explained about this: "Our colleagues in Brussels like to use such terms as NATO Lake or NATO Sea and talk about it. In fact, it is not, and Russia has enough military and other means to prevent this from happening.
The Russian official stated that his country guarantees both freedom of navigation and freedom of action for its naval forces: "We have the resources to show, if necessary, that NATO's dreams are not coming true."
"Unfortunately, the risks are increasing and everyone knows it," Groshko said, warning of an increased risk of direct conflict between Russian and NATO forces, according to Izvestia.
In explaining his opinion, he stated: "As the most obvious example, the situation in the Baltic region is transformed from a peaceful region into a region of military competition with the joint efforts of NATO countries."
According to this report, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated that Moscow tried in every possible way to normalize the situation in the Baltic region and continued: "But none of our proposals were taken into account by the NATO alliance."
Grushko also added: "The increase of 1,200 kilometers of the contact line between Russia and NATO as a result of Finland's entry into this alliance increases the risks of collision many times over."
Earlier, "Dmitry Peskov", the spokesman of the Kremlin Palace, stated that the expansion of NATO towards Russia's borders is a cause of concern for Moscow, and said that this country is also taking measures to balance the security structure of the European continent.
It should be noted that after Russia's military attack on Ukraine, the tension between Russia and the Western countries has increased to an unprecedented level.
