Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - The Noor news site, close to the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, reported that Ali Shamkhani met with Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan on a one-day trip to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday 2nd of Pisces.
According to this report, in this meeting, he likened the countries of the region to "members of a family" and called for "dialogue, goodwill and tolerance" to solve "family differences".
Ali Shamkhani's visit to the UAE comes a few days after Iran and Saudi Arabia announced an agreement to resume diplomatic relations, a development that was mediated by China and announced by Mr. Shamkhani and his Saudi counterpart instead of the foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia.
The agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia to normalize relations has been welcomed by many world powers and countries in the region.
Mr. Shamkhani has gone to the United Arab Emirates together with the Governor General of the Central Bank, the Head of the Foreign Intelligence Organization of the Ministry of Information and the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Persian Gulf Countries.
He told his Emirati counterpart: "I consider this trip a meaningful beginning for the two countries to enter a new stage of political, economic and security relations."
Mr. Shamkhani's trip to the UAE was made following the official invitation of his counterpart.
The United Arab Emirates returned its ambassador to Tehran in August 2022 after six years of reducing the level of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The decrease in the level of that country's relations with Iran coincided with the termination of Saudi Arabia's relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a website close to the Supreme National Security Council, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed, the national security advisor of the UAE, also welcomed the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia and said: "This agreement plays a constructive role in the expansion of peace, stability, and sustainable security in the region."
Yesterday, Nournews reported that Mr. Shamkhani "is going to an Arab country to solve some important cases." Details and axes of Mr. Shamkhani's negotiations have not been announced; But this trip is done while it seems that the Islamic Republic of Iran is trying to de-escalate tensions with the countries of the Persian Gulf.
In addition, Iran's foreign minister has emphasized the possibility of a prisoner exchange with the United States, and agreements have been reached with the International Atomic Energy Agency to clear the ambiguity of Iran's undeclared nuclear activities.
