Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): The World Health Organization (WHO) says that it has administered the measles vaccine to 5/36 million children under the age of five in Afghanistan.
According to the report published by this organization, in the campaign that was conducted from November 26 to December 12, this number of children aged 9 months to 5 years received measles vaccine.
Meanwhile, based on the statistics presented in this report of the World Health Organization, 5484 cases of measles have been confirmed in Afghanistan until November of this year, and about 300 deaths due to measles infection have also been recorded.
Most cases of measles have been seen in children under 5 years of age.
The report of the World Health Organization also states that from November 26 to December 12, 1.6 million children received polio vaccine in Afghanistan.
The World Health Organization wrote that the polio vaccination campaign has been implemented in 329 districts of 34 provinces of Afghanistan.
According to official statistics, the number of positive cases of polio in Afghanistan is decreasing, from 54 cases in 2020 to 4 cases in 2021 and 2 cases this year.
The World Health Organization has written that this was the first nationwide measles and polio vaccination campaign after the re-establishment of the Taliban in Afghanistan.
