Following the suspension of the university and higher education for female students in Afghanistan, Pakistan condemned the act and urged the Afghan authorities to revise their decision.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, The Ministry of Higher Education of Afghanistan’s Islamic Emirate regime on December 20, suspended access to universities by female students until further notice, drawing strong condemnation from the United States, Britain, the United Nations, and Afghan diasporas.
The spokesperson of the higher education ministry in a letter confirmed the suspension of public and private universities to female students immediately, in accordance with a de facto cabinet decision.
“Pakistan is disappointed to learn about the suspension of the university and higher education for female students in Afghanistan,” an official statement from the Foreign Office read, adding that Pakistan’s position on the issue has been “clear and consistent”.
Since the Islamic Emirate’s return to power in August last year, Pakistan has maintained a close and friendly relationship with them, though, not formally recognizing the interim regime as the legitimate the government of Afghanistan.
However, the recent armed attacks that took place on December 11 and 15 in the Chaman-Spin Boldak border area causing to the death of several civilians and injured more people from both sides soared tensions between Islamabad and Kabul.
Following the border shelling, some Pakistani senators even called on the government to revise its policy against Afghanistan. Others described the Afghan government as an “unfriendly neighbor” for Pakistan has been the home for millions of Afghans for nearly the past four decades.
Even after the overthrow of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in August 2021, Pakistan experienced a new wave of Afghan refugees and migrants taking either legal or illegal paths to reach the country.
