Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): According to Reuters, German Defense Minister Christian Lambrecht said on Tuesday (15th of August) that the purchase of Lockheed Martin's F35 fighter jets worth 10 billion euros has been finalized by the middle of this month, according to the approval of the country's parliament.
Lambrecht told the reporters of this country in the city of Simmern located in the west of Germany: This contract will be discussed in detail in the next session of the parliament. The purchase of radio systems is also going to be discussed in the meeting of the German Parliament.
Germany plans to buy 35 F-35 stealth fighter jets along with equipment and weapons related to this fighter from the United States, eight of which are to be delivered to Berlin by 2026.
Just one F35 fighter helmet costs about 400,000 dollars for the US Air Force.
According to German officials, these new fighters are supposed to replace Tornado fighters.
The German Air Force has relied on Tornado fighters since the 1980s, but Berlin plans to phase them out by 2030.
The news of the new contract between Germany and America has been met with a negative reaction from France. Paris is worried that this agreement will affect the joint project of the two countries to build fighters.
A few weeks ago, the countries of France, Germany and Spain agreed on the start of a new fighter production project known as FCAS, as the largest military project in Europe with a budget of more than 100 billion euros.
Christian Lambrecht called the agreement of the European countries to build this fighter a big step and an important sign of cooperation between the three countries in the military field.
