Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): South Korean military officials announced the firing of two North Korean ballistic missiles towards the East Sea (Sea of Japan).
Media sources in South Korea, quoting the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the country's military, reported that North Korea has once again put the launch of ballistic missiles on its agenda.
According to "Yonhap" news agency, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that South Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles towards the East Sea (Sea of Japan) this Friday (October 28).
According to the report of this South Korean state media, these two missiles were fired between 23:59 on Thursday evening and 18:00 on Friday morning (today) from Dongchun area in Kangwon province of North Korea.
"While we strengthen our surveillance and vigilance, our military maintains a state of full readiness in close cooperation with the United States," South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement.
The firing of North Korea's ballistic missiles was done when South Korea was on the verge of ending the "Hoguk" exercise, and next week, this country and the United States are going to hold a large joint air exercise called "Vigilant Storm".
North Korea's missile launch has also resulted in Washington's reaction, and the US Army's "Asia-Pacific" command has emphasized Washington's "ironclad" security commitment towards Seoul and Tokyo.
US Asia-Pacific Command said in a statement: While we have assessed that this event does not pose an immediate threat to US personnel or territory or our allies, but the missile launch has the destabilizing effect of North Korea's illicit weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs.
