Mines Extraction in Herat
Officials at the Herat’s Mines and Petroleum department said that Extraction works continues from 6 mines in Herat.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, The provincial head of Mines and Petroleum in Herat Mawlawi Fazel Ahmed Munib Khamosh said in an interview with BNA that extraction works continues from six mines in the province that includes marble, salt and coal.
 
9 marble mines, 5 marble mines, 6 construction material mines, 2 coal mines and other mines such as copper, salt and gypsum are famous in Herat he said.
 
According to officials of Herat’s mines and petroleum, 25,000 tons of salt are extracted from the salt mine of that province, which is located in Ghurian district.
 
The contracting company of the mentioned mine say that in addition to extracting salt, the mine has provided work for a large number of people and 370 to 430 labors busy working in this mine daily said local officials of the province.
 
Nasser Omid, the head of Ghurian Salt Mining Contracting Company, says that the extracted salt is offered to Herat markets for use and is also exported to other provinces of the country.
 
Economist believe that if the mines of Herat province are extracted, the problems of many citizens due to unemployment will be removed, and huge capital will also enter the government’s treasury account.
