UNAMA: Sanctions against the Islamic Emirate have had a negative impact on Afghanistan
Marks Potzel, head of the United Nations Office in Afghanistan (UNAMA), called for an effort to facilitate access to the assets belonging to the Central Bank of Afghanistan in last night's meeting (Monday, August 29) and said that the sanctions against the Islamic Emirate Afghanistan's economy has been negatively affected.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): This meeting was held last night (Monday, August 29) about Afghanistan and its focus was on the humanitarian and economic situation in this country.

Potzel said in his statement that since the establishment of the Islamic Emirate, the United Nations has been exceptionally focused on addressing humanitarian and humanitarian needs in Afghanistan, and the needs in Afghanistan are still significant.

The head of UNAMA has stated in the meeting of the Security Council that the government of the Islamic Emirate has not been recognized by any member of the international community.

According to Potzel, one of the reasons for this is the non-compliance with the norms of the international community regarding human rights, especially the rights of women and girls.

He added that Afghanistan is a part of this international system and the Islamic Emirate must adhere to its international obligations.

In a part of his statement, the head of UNAMA mentioned that the sanctions against the Islamic Emirate had a negative impact on the Afghan economy.

He has called for efforts to facilitate access to assets belonging to the Central Bank of Afghanistan for the benefit of the people of the country.

Pointing out that humanitarian aid is not a long-term solution, Potzel added: "Poverty reduction as well as the provision of basic goods and services must ultimately rely on sustainable economic growth."

But according to him, the donors have repeatedly announced that the resumption of economic cooperation depends on the cancellation of some policies of the Islamic Emirate.

The head of UNAMA has further said that the current rulers of Afghanistan are facing an increasing number of governance challenges.

It should be noted that during this meeting of the UN Security Council, China and Russia demanded economic support and the development of international community relations with the Islamic Emirate. India also expressed some suicide attacks against religious minorities in Afghanistan and demanded a guarantee from the Islamic Emirate regarding the non-activity of terrorist groups and institutions under their name.
