UN Security Council split over ban on Islamis emirate officials
According to sources United Nations Security Council remained divided over whether to grant travel exemption to the Islamic Emirate leaders.
Afghan Voice Agency(AVA)_Monitoring, Talking to reporters at the Security Council Media Stakeout, the Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jun said that the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan is critical, urging for reconsideration of the travel ban on Islamic Emirate rule.

“We cannot say that we want the Afghanistan government to do something but meanwhile we don’t give them any chance to have access to the international community,” the Chinese envoy Zhang Jun said, as TOLOnews quoted. “We cut off their linkage with other countries, so that is not reasonable.”

Islamic Emirate leadership said that imposing pressure and restrictions on Afghanistan is not a solution, adding peace negotiations that freed foreign troops from two decades of continued war in the country.

“The time to impose restrictions is passed—it had no result. Over the past 20 years, the restrictions extended even to bombardments,” Islamic Emirate’s spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said.

“It was negotiations and engagement that changed the situation and saved Afghanistan and released the Americans from major fighting. The door for negotiations from our side is still open and they should not use a heavy hand,” he added.

Meanwhile, analysts believe Afghanistan will be isolated once again if the dispute among the world leaders over the travel ban exemption of the Islamic Emirate’s leader remains controversial.

“The lack of extension of the travel ban exemption for the leaders of the Islamic Emirate is due to strong disagreements between the West, led by the US, and the East, led by Russia and China. This shows that Afghanistan has become a center of rivalry between West and East once again after 20 years,” said Noorullah Raghi, an international relations analyst.

On Thursday, the Islamic Emirate leadership called for ending the travel ban on some of their leaders to help advance diplomacy, as the U.N. Security Council remains divided over whether to grant the exemption.

A Security Council waiver allowing 13 Islamic Emirate leaders, including Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, to travel abroad expired last Friday, after member states failed to agree on a possible extension in the exemptions.
