Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Monitoring, During a press conference at the government Media and Information center today Monday, the officials of the passport department say that 714,337 passports were issued by the department in a year.
The Deputy of the passport department Sher Shah Qureshi said that 3 million newly printed passports will arrive from Lithuania shortly.
Meanwhile, Qureshi said that the department, consistently fought to curb corruption and forgery, adding that 350 people have been arrested and handed over to judicial bodies.
Some of the employees of the passport office, who were involved in corruption have been dismissed from their jobs, Qureshi added.
Qureshi said in order to regulate the issuing of the passport process they classified the process and categorized the crowed into three sections.
Online application forms were restored to shorten the process for the citizens of the country.
In the end, the officials of passport announced some future plans to the public through the media, including constructing a new passport building in central and the provinces of the country.
