Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan begins
An international conference on the current situation in Afghanistan got underway in Tashkent.
Afghan Voice Agency(AVA)_Monitoring, Special representatives for Afghanistan from a number of countries are participating in the conference, which ends tomorrow (Tuesday).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tashkent said the main objective behind the event was to promote stability, security, post-conflict reconstruction in Afghanistan.

Asia Plus, citing a statement from the ministry, reported the conference was focused on Afghanistan’s integration into regional cooperation processes.

The statement added participants of the meeting were likely to discuss issues related to:
Developing coordinated and specific proposals and actions on Afghanistan’s economic reconstruction and providing immediate humanitarian aid to the Afghan people;

Establishing an effective global dialogue on acceleration by the new Afghan authorities of the process of fulfilling key international requirements;

Establishing a widely-represented government, respecting women’s rights and ensuring girls’ access to full-fledged schooling;

Reaffirmation by the interim Afghan government of its obligations to prevent the use of Afghanistan’s territory against the interests of neighbouring countries, other states; and The importance of unfreezing Afghanistan’s assets abroad as well as implementation of various infrastructure development projects in the country in transportation, communications and energy sectors.

Diplomats from the UK, the EU, Iran, Italy, Spain, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, China, Norway Pakistan, Russia, the US, Turkey, Japan and other countries are in attendance.
