Afghan Voice Agency(AVA)_Monitoring, Zabul health officials say that dozens of patients, including children, have been treated by mobile health teams in their villages and this process continues.
Lately, other parts of Zabul witnessed the outbreak of cholera, an event in which hundreds of people were infected and some died.
Dr. Abdul Hakim Hakimi, head of public health in Zabul, told BNA that they have been able to prevent human casualties caused by cholera in this district by sending mobile health teams to the villages of Shahr-e-Safa.
According to the statistics provided, more than 80 patients, including children, were treated by mobile health teams in their own villages in the last two days.
Meanwhile, health officials in Helmand reported that 20 died of the cholera disease in that province and more than 120 people were hospitalized.
The head of public health of Zabul says that a number of patients whose health status was alarming have been transferred to the central hospitals for treatment.
Cholera is an acute diarrheal illness caused by infection of the intestine with Vibrio cholera bacteria. People can get sick when they swallow food or water contaminated with cholera bacteria. The infection is often mild or without symptoms, but can sometimes be severe and life-threatening.
