Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Marcus Potzel; Deputy UN representative in Afghanistan today in separate meetings with Abdulsalam Hanafi; Deputy Prime Minister and Amir Khan Muttaqi; Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate sat and talked.
In a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Potzel expressed his regret for the loss of life in the recent earthquake in Afghanistan and said that the United Nations will help the victims.
Maulvi Hanafi also thanked the United Nations for its help and cooperation in the field of humanitarianism and other sectors and said that the Islamic Emirate is ready for any cooperation with the United Nations.
On the other hand, in another meeting with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, Mr. Potzel asked for more cooperation of the Ministry with the United Nations and said that he welcomes the reopening of foreign embassies in Afghanistan.
In this meeting, Motaghi emphasized that the situation should not be judged based on unsubstantiated claims, and said that the situation has improved with the establishment of the Islamic Emirate.
It should be mentioned that Marks Potzel, the former German ambassador to Afghanistan, was appointed as the political deputy of the United Nations representative in Afghanistan on Friday, June 17/27 of this year.
He, who is fluent in Farsi, said on his return to Kabul, "I returned to Afghanistan with a sense of honor, this time as UNAMA's deputy.”I am committed to working for the people of Afghanistan, because their country is going through a critical moment right now."
Mr. Potzel is currently in charge of the office of UNAMA, the United Nations representative in Afghanistan.
