“You are trapped in foreigners’ house. Let’s talk about the future of the country. People are not deceived by your slogans, they want plans practical work,” Ghani said in his address.
Referring to the ongoing talks, the president advised patience.
“My clear message to the Taliban is that they will not achieve their goal with violence, and if they continue, how will they live in this land tomorrow?” he asked the gathering.
Ghani said that it was the government’s duty to provide education for the children of the Taliban members and lives of dignity for their elders and their forces.
“We have accepted you as a negative power, but come and change into a positive power, so that we can talk about the future and bring peace and progress,” he urged.
Ghani stressed that peace is the will of the people and without it progress is impossible.
He added, “We are ready to end the 40-year crisis and misery in a fundamental way. We have a plan, will and intention for peace, and we firmly want to stop the continuation of bloodshed.”
