Ten Afghan forces killed in Taliban attacks in Balkh, Ghor
Ten Afghan forces were killed in overnight Taliban attacks in Afghanistan's northern Balkh and central Ghor provinces, sources said Thursday.
In Balkh, eight Afghan forces were killed after militants attacked center of Dawlat Abad district from different directions. 14 others were wounded in the attacks.
Munir Ahmad Farhad, a spokesman for Balkh governor, confirmed death of five forces and wounding of two others in the attcaks.
He said that the deaths included intelligence forces and public order police.
Separately, insurgents attacked security checkpoints in Du Laina district of Ghor province last night, killing two local police and wounding five others, officials said.
Six militants were also killed and seven others were wounded in counterattack, according to officials.
Meanwhile in Ghazni, a rocket landed 100 meters from provincial governor’s compound on Thursday, where President Ghani is expected on the day. It caused no casualties.
