Herat Public Health Director Abdul Hakim Tamana told media late on Saturday that 67 suspected cases had been sent from different provinces to Kabul for tests. Six of them tested positive and the rest negative.
He said the six new cases took the total number of COVID-19 patients in Herat to 84. A day earlier, MoPH said 15 more positive cases of coronavirus had been detected in Afghanistan.
The deadly virus, which surfaced three months ago in China’s Wuhan city, has spread to nearly 200 countries around the world. More than 21,000 individuals have lost their lives to COVID-19, with the number of infections rising to 500,000 worldwide.
