The incident happened on Friday evening in Khwaja Noor village after a group of "Taliban fighters" attacked the area and “opened fire on women and children,” Farhad said.
The Taliban has not commented on this.
The Herat attack came just hours after an attack claimed by Daesh on a ceremony in Kabul, which killed more than 30 people and wounded over 80 others.
Meanwhile, at least one policeman was killed in a magnetic IED blast in the city of Lashkargah, the center of Helmand province, on Saturday morning, the provincial police said in a statement.
This comes after a seven-day reduction in violence across the country and after the US and Taliban signed a peace deal in Doha, Qatar, on Feb. 29. The
Taliban in an internal statement following the US-Taliban deal ordered their troops to resume“offensives” against Afghan forces, but to refrain from attacking US forces.
