Five Afghan forces killed in Taliban attack in Logar: official
Five Afghan forces were killed when Taliban militants attacked a security checkpoint in central Logar province last night, an official said Tuesday.
The attack happened in an area between Bato Kheil and Hasan Kheil in Mohammad Agha district, said Didar Lawang, a spokesman for provincial governor.
There was no immediate comment from the Taliban.
It happened hours after a spokesman for the Taliban reportedly announced that its fighters will resume normal attacks against Afghan forces, following a seven-day reduction in violence that led to the signing of peace deal with the United States.
Meanwhile in Paktika, a tribal elder was killed by gunmen on Monday evening, a statement from the provincial governor’s office said.
The incident happened while the victim was on his way to mosque in Yahya Kheil district, the statement said.
