Following the announcement of the Afghan presidential election’s preliminary results on Sep. 28, the IECC says the electoral complaints process will begin Monday and the candidates have three days to file their complaints with the commission’s provincial office.
Zohra Bayan Shinwari, head of the IECC during a press conference on Sunday afternoon urged candidates to file their complaints with full documentation at the commission headquarter or its provincial offices.
According to her, the process of addressing electoral complaints will take 15 days and if the electoral tickets would not be satisfied with the outcome of the complaints, they can appeal.
“The results are preliminary and any prejudgment should be avoided,” added Ms Shinwari.
The IEC announced the preliminary results of the presidential election on Sunday which President Ashraf Ghani appears set to win a second term.
He secured 50.64% of the vote in the September 28 election.
