We urge all candidates to adhere to the IEC Code of Conduct and respect Afghanistan’s democratic process," the embassy said on Twitter.
“We call on Afghan electoral and security bodies to take every measure possible to ensure a safe and transparent election that is credible to the Afghan people,” it said.
The statement came after the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan hosted a meeting of donors with presidential candidates or their representatives.
“US embassy in Kabul and the international community support Afghan voters’ right to choose their next president,” the embassy said.
