The soldiers, from Croatia, were en route to Kabul airport when a suicide attacker on motorcycle hit one of their vehicles, Croatian Defence Minister Damir Krsticevic said as quoted by Reuters.
One of the soldiers suffered serious head wounds in the blast and later died in the US-run military hospital at Bagrahm airfield, Croatian authorities said.
“The serviceman received the maximum medical assistance at the hospital in Bagram ... but he died due to the severity of his injuries,” Croatian defence ministry said in a statement.
Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for Afghan interior ministry, reportedly said that the convoy was heading to a military camp on the outskirts of Kabul when it was struck by a suicide bomber.
It was first Croatian fatality in Afghanistan since the NATO member deployed troops in the country in 2003.
There are 99 Croatian troops in Afghanistan.
