The Acting Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Mohammad Fahim Hashimy told reporters in Kabul that the internet cost will drop from $96 go $60.
Hashimy further added that provision of a cost-effective internet remains a top priority of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology.
Furthermore, Mr. Hashimy said the ministry is also working with the telecommunication companies to reduce the cost of 3G and 4G internet services in the country.
The cost of internet in Afghanistan is many times higher as compared to internet cost in regional countries.
Meanwhile, the political experts believe that the internet cost remains in Afghanistan due to the lack of competition.
According to reports, only one company is operating in Afghanistan which provides internet services to the other firms on a wholesale basis.
