“Introduced new CID head for Kabul PHQ today. Recent high graph of crimes at Kabul are not acceptable. It has badly effected our peace of minds. Crimes prevention is our 2nd top most priority after fight against terrorism. Hope we see the change asap,” Gen. Khoshal Sadat, senior deputy interior for security said in a statement released via Twitter.
Sources in the Ministry of Interior said Saturday that Gen. Salim Almas, the Chief of Criminal Investigation Department of Kabul has been fired due to growing criminal incidents in the capital during the recent days.
The sources further added that the CID Chief of Kabul was removed so that a competent official can take over the responsibility in a bid to improve the security of the capital.
This comes as several criminal related incidents have taken place in key parts of Kabul city recently including an armed attack on a local trader in Karte Parwan area of the city last week.
The took place in broad daylight involving a group of armed robbers who snatched $50,000 in cash from the trader after shooting him death.
