Flood swallows vehicle with 17 passengers in Afghanistan
Seventeen people went missing after the vehicle they were travelling in was swept away by flood waters in Afghanistan's western province of Herat, an official said Tuesday.
Jelani Farhad, a spokesman for provincial governor, said tht the incident happened in Dehgahi village of Oba district.

The passengers of the minibus included four women and 13 men, who were travelling from Jenwa village to Dehgahi district, the official said.

He said that more than 100 homes in Bande Benafsh village of Oba district were destroyed by flood, adding the residents managed to escape, but could not save their belongings.

Floods are a common occurrence in Afghanistan, but this year’s has been one of the most severe.

Hundreds have been reported killed in floods over the last two months.
