The new position has been established based on recommendation of Kabul mayor Ahmad Zaki Sarfaraz which was approved by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
The recommendation presented to President Ghani states that Kabul Municipality wants to establish the new position in a bid to have an active network of communication and information sharing for people.
President Ghani has approved the establishment of the new position and appointment of Mohammad Fazil Sharifi as Deputy Mayor for Social and Public Awareness services.
Mr. Sharifi has previously served as director of policy and plan in institute of Farsi literary, Editor-in-Chief of Khurasan magazine, member of the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan, Chief of Staff and Senior Adviser in the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, deputy commissioner in research and policy section of Independent Election Commission, Independent Human Rights Commission, and some other organizations besides having cultural, social, and media activities.
He has a Master’s degree in Farsi literature and is currently a PhD student in Kabul University.
