AVA- "We (Iran and Russia) are two important partners and neighbors and we have had highly valuable experiences and very close mutual and regional cooperation, especially in the fight against terrorism on Syria," Qassemi told reporters in Tehran on Monday.
He underlined that the two countries will continue this cooperation and assistance in quest for their "special and common goals".
Iran and Russia have helped Syria to get rid of most terrorist groups. Tehran has sent military advisors to the war-torn Arab state and has voiced preparedness to participate in reconstruction efforts in the country too.
Both countries have in the past few months exchanged several delegations to discuss mutual and regional cooperation.
Earlier this month, Special Assistant to Iran's Foreign Minister in Political Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari held bilateral meetings with Russian military and security officials in Moscow to exchange views on the most recent developments in Syria.
Jaberi Ansari met with Russian Deputy Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Alexander Fomin at the venue of Russian Ministry of Defense, and exchanged views on Syria’s developments and relevant issues.
The Iranian diplomat also met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin and Special Presidential Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev and discussed the latest developments of peace process in Syria and Yemen.
He also met and held talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and President's Special Envoy for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Mikhail Bogdanov, and exchanged views on the various regional processes in Palestine, Libya, Sudan and Syria.
During the visit, he said that Tehran and Moscow were determined to settle the regional crises and problems through cooperation and coordination.
Determination of both Iran and Russia to solve different regional issues has caused the two countries to enhance cooperation and coordinate policies and measures, Jaberi Ansari said in Moscow during his second visit in a month to meet with Russian officials.
He said that the pace of developments and Iran-Russia cooperation had necessitated the exchange of delegations between Tehran and Moscow.
