Afghan forces kill 21 Taliban, 10 Daesh militants in Faryab and Badghis
Afghan forces have killed 21 Taliban and 10 Daesh militants in operations in two provinces of the country, defense ministry said Sunday.
The Taliban militants were killed in Khwaja Sabz Posh district of Faryab province. Their commander for the district Tajuddin also died, said Ghafoor Ahmad Jawed, an MoD spokesman.
Fifteen insurgents were injured and 12 others were arrested in the operation in the district, he said.
Separately, Afghan forces carried out a special raid against Daesh in Cheshmae Shirin village of Jawand district in Badghis province, killing 10 militants, Jawed said.
Sixteen other Daesh militants including foreigners were arrested along with their families, he said.
The news comes a day after US military confirmed death of a senior Daesh commander in a raid in eastern Nangarhar province.
Khetab Emir was killed on January 10. He facilitated high-profile attacks and supplied Daesh fighters with weapons and materials to make explosives, Ubon Mendie, a spokesman for US Forces Afghanistan said in a statement.
