Turkey: Over 1,200 irregular migrants including Afghan nationals held in past week
The Turkish Interior Ministry on Saturday said 1,210 irregular migrants were held this past week, from Sept. 14 to 21. 
AVA- In the western Izmir province and northern Aegean provinces, a total of 426 migrants were held in 11 different incidents, according to the ministry statement.
The ministry further added that security units in the southern Aegean region have held 79 migrants while three dead bodies were retrieved from the sea.
Separately, in the Anamur district of the Mediterranean province of Mersin, 13 migrants were held.
A total of 28 Afghan and Palestinian nationals, including women and children, were rounded up in Ayvacik in the northwestern province of Canakkale.
In Seydikemer in the southern Mugla province, acting on a tip about a group of foreign nationals who got off a bus to walk through the forest, gendarmerie forces held a total of 53 migrants, including Somali, Iranian, Iraqi, Palestinian, Syrian and Afghan nationals.
The coastal guards in the northwestern province of Canakkale's Ayvacik, Izmir's Cesme, southwesternprovince of Mugla's Bodrum have rescued 149 migrants.
Additionally, gendarmerie units have held 543 migrants and arrested three human smugglers.
