A number of the supporters of Grand National Coalition (GNC) were arrested by police on charges of closing the provincial election office in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
AVA- The provincial police commandment in a statement said the supporters of the coalition had set up tents and had closed the election office by launching a sit-in protest late on Monday.
The statement further added that the security forces launched an operation late on Monday night, removed the tents, and arrested sixteen supporters of the coalition.
According to the provincial police commandment, the provincial election office is open for the election staff in Nangarhar province.
Provincial police Chief Gen. Ghulam Sanayi said the security forces would take legal actions against all those who are violating the laws.
The Grand National Coalition, consisting of political parties, has closed the offices of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) in three provinces, including western Herat province.

They had also warned that the election offices in other provinces will also be closed if the government and election commission did not respond positively to their demands.
