More than 100 rescued as Afghan special forces raid Taliban prisons in Helmand
As many as 105 people were released after Afghan special forces raided prisons run by the Taliban in southern province of Helmand last night, officials said Thursday.
The rescued people included also five women and several elderly men, the provincial governor’s office said in a statement.
The prisons were located in Sur Karez and De Baba areas of Kajaki district, according to the statement.
Four militants were killed in the raids. 10 motorcycles and 10 improvised explosive devices, arms and ammunition were seized, the statement said.
