Casualties toll in Kandahar car bomb explosion rises to 21, 40 wounded
The local officials in southern Kandahar province are saying that the death toll from yesterday’s car bomb explosion in Kandahar city has climbed at least 21 people.
The officials are saying that the blast has also left at least 40 people wounded and several security personnel are also among those who have lost their lives.
The officials further added that the incident took place inside a yard as the security personnel were busy defusing a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device.
The provincial governor’s spokesman Mohamamd Daud Ahmadi said late on Tuesday that the explosion had left at least 16 people dead although he warned that the death toll could further rise.
Ahmadi had also added that the blast has left more than 30 people wounded and confirmed that security personnel and civilians are among those killed or wounded.
No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
The security situation in southern Kandahar province has started to deteriorate during the recent months after the security situation had relatively improved during the recent years.
