The invitation was extended as Ghani met with visiting Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua in Kabul.
Ghani on his twitter described the visit as a follow up to Kabul Process, a peace platform the second meeting of which was held last month.
“I have extended an official invitation to Pakistani Prime Minister to visit Afghanistan. This is to initiate state to state comprehensive dialogue,” Ghani said.
Relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan have been tense in recent years over terrorism.
Islamabad said that NSA Janjua was visiting Kabul to discuss regional security issues with Afghan leadership.
“Both sides will work to improve bilateral relations and enhance cooperation particularly with reference to peace initiative undertaken by the President of Afghanistan,” an official statement from Islamabad said.
